Each year, HGTV enthralls the viewing public with a stunning home built in a pastoral location, and this year’s contest looks like it will not disappoint. With past HGTV dream home locations in such jaw dropping places as Winter Park, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you might think that it would be difficult to top them. However, this year’s HGTV Dream Home contest is going to give them a run for their money, with the home being built in the heart of California wine country – Sonoma.
Images of verdant fields stretching over rolling hills are immediately conjured by the mention of this location, but that is only half the story. The home, built in the Victorian Farmhouse tradition, captures the essence of traditional farm living while meeting the luxury of a gentleman’s estate. The two-story home built by Steve Ledson will be impressive by any measure. With all of the attention to detail that has become the hallmark of HGTV Dream Homes, this wine farm estate will be no different. From the natural wood floors, trim, and wainscoting, this home will exhibit a craftsmanship of days gone by. A three bedroom, three and a half bath, 3,600 square foot masterpiece, this home will provide all of the space and amenities needed to entertain family and friends for many years.
The HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes draws millions of entries each year through the HGTV website and post card entries. In 2007, more than 41 million entries were submitted. Entries open on January 1st and close in mid-February. One entry per person per day is allowed. Started in 1997, the sweepstakes has grown in substantially in popularity and provides manufacturers with an opportunity to showcase their best products within the confines of a million dollar setting. Although other sweepstakes are offered by the channel, the HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes is the largest and most well known. The winner of the HGTV Dream Home 2009 will be announced in March 2009.

Home Owner Insurance Company Rating
March 9th, 2012
When making a purchase as important as a home owner insurance policy, you want to make sure you buy the best, from the best. It makes sense; you are, after all, protecting your home, yourself and your family members, as well as your contents and valuable. One way to buy the best from the best is to research the home owner insurance company from which you may purchase your home owner insurance policy.
Luckily, most of the research has already been done for you. Independent research companies thoroughly examine home owner insurance companies and give them ratings based on certain factors. The most important research findings an independent research company can offer you are the financial strengths of each home owner insurance company.
Home owner insurance company ratings are usually given on an alphabetical scale, such as A, B, C, and so forth. Sometimes independent research companies offer A+, A-, B+, B-, etc. Some companies even go so far as to offer two plusses. Ideally, you want to choose a home owner insurance company that is rated B or higher and avoid companies with ratings warning of “in liquidation” or “under supervision.”
It’s important to note while the financial strength of a home owner insurance company is important, it’s quite rare for a home owner insurance company to go bankrupt, simply because each home owner insurance company has to prove itself financially before it can be licensed to do business in a particular state.
Before you choose a home owner insurance company, check out a few independent research companies first. Consider the ratings each independent research company has given the home owner insurance company you’re considering. Also, be sure to take advantage of additional study reports offered by the independent research companies, such as the special guides some independent research companies compile in order to help customers better understand the process used to decide a home owner insurance company rating.
